Justice has been served before and will be served again. Given the general zeitgeist and recent reforms, we should expect some incremental improvements in the criminal justice system. That doesn't mean we can't still make a lot more, but that's here and there.

In the case of police officers abusing their power and killing (or mutilating, ...) citizen without being in self-defense situation, it's very very rare that justice is served. We can hope it'll become more frequent, but so far it has been the exception, not the rule.

Due to sentencing guidelines, he will probably get a 12 year sentence, max. Which is a long time, but it will leave you out on parole after 8. He isn't going away for life.

We have eight years to build a society in which people like Chauvin cannot do any harm anymore.
