This is what the jury would have heard in a system designed to deliver justice:

The defendant sent a message on the day he killed George Floyd: I will choke this man out in front of witnesses who are filming every minute and I will get away with it because I am a cop. This is the message society needs to send to the defendant and all like him: no, motherfucker, we are sending you to jail for a long, long time.

If the legal system, which is what we have here, and the society fail to send that message, our cities will burn again.

I think they will acquit. I don't want that to happen, of course, but I have a bad feeling.

As someone whom firmly believes Chauvin broke all sorts of laws, and hopes that charges stick, absolutely not. Our justice system needs to maintain impartiality, and a huge part of this is striving for juries to view the facts of the case at hand, not prejudicial statements about the accused. We already utterly fail in this regard in many cases, but the fastest way to a deserved mistrial would be for the prosecution to prejudice the jury in such a manner, and it would be rightful.

Chauvin has every right to a fair and impartial jury; the nature of his crimes or their merit on society as a whole does not and should not strip these rights. Our justice system has many flaws, but trying to maintain impartial juries is not one of them.

I'm willing to bet the courts will prosecute him, cuz they probably realize if they don't we would likely see another 2-3 months of everything we saw over the summer.

Um... it's in the hands of the jury at this point. And they have prosecuted him already. It's a matter of whether or not the jury will convict.

Maybe it’s just a precautionary move. I mean, I guess there still could be riots if he’s found guilty.

I'm excited, Chauvin deserves to get acquitted but riots on top of it just serves as a further radicalization to many and further destabilizes the system.

Why does Chauvin deserve acquittal? Also, radicalization in what regard?

Because he didn't murder Floyd and the loss of faith in the system on one side combined with the backlash to the expected riots on the other.
