No, no, no...
For some real fun, we should look to block China's Grand Canal - simultaneously the world's longest artificial canal (over 1700 km / 1100 miles), perhaps the oldest in continuous everyday use (some sections date back to the 5th century BC, though it only became a coherent single unit at the end of the 5th century AD), and the world's longest UNESCO World Heritage site. Nor is it some arcane historical oddity; according to Wiki, 'the Jianbi ship locks on the Yangtze are currently handling some 75,000,000 tons each year, and the Li Canal is forecast to reach 100,000,000 tons in the next few years'.
Now that's a serious canal.

But does it have any shopping trollies in it? Can't be a proper canal without shopping trollies.

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.
