I been looking to play Battlefield 5 and Rainbow Six Siege with people and I'm kind of sick of the usual 14 year old kids and bro dudes

Ohio to let trans people update their birth certificate

Transgender people in Ohio will soon be able to change their birth certificates to reflect a gender different than the one they were assigned at birth, leaving Tennessee as the lone state to still bar such alterations.

The Ohio Department of Health said last week that it will not appeal a December court decision requiring the agency to allow updates to birth certificates requested by transgender people, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

With the change reportedly expected to be in place by June 1, that will mean all U.S. states but Tennessee will permit such alterations.

The ACLU of Ohio is representing plaintiffs in the case, one of whom said she was physically threatened after her birth certificate, which listed her as male, outed her as transgender at work, the Enquirer reported. Such harassment toward transgender people is not unique — 36 percent of Ohioans who responded to a National Center for Transgender Equality survey said they were "verbally harassed, denied benefits or service, asked to leave or assaulted" after showing an ID with a name or gender that did not match their gender presentation, NBC News reported.

Though the state reportedly argued that allowing birth certificate alterations of gender would "undermine the accuracy of vital statistics or fraud prevention," U.S. District Judge Michael H. Watson dismissed the argument as a "red herring" during his ruling in December, according to NBC News.

"[The policy is] nothing more than a policy 'born of animosity toward the class of person affected' that has 'no rational relation to a legitimate government purpose,'" Watson said, according to the Enquirer. He also argued that the previous policy was discriminatory against transgender people, since Ohio allowed birth certificate alterations for other reasons, like adding adoptive parents.

My sister used to be transgender. She came out as FTM when she was 14 and was even diagnosed as such by a professional. Me and the rest of the people in my family were very supportive. She dressed like a boy and everything. Then she eventually just stopped at around 17 and shortly after her 18th birthday, she said that she no longer identified as transgender and wanted to be treated like a girl again. 12 years later, she is still a woman and views her trans days as "just a silly phase." Thank God she couldn't get any "gender-affirming" treatment as a teenager like she wanted, or things could have been very bad for her.

Yes, some people really are LGBT for life, for others like my sister it was just a phase. I also have a friend who identified as lesbian during college. Then she identified as bisexual and now she is straight, married, and has two kids. It happens.

Because I basically live under a rock and dont plan on using google

What is a transgender?

Is it like someone Saying "I Identify as a Girl" when they are a boy or is it that thing where you have doctors change the makeup of parts of your body?

It is identifying yourself as a different gender that does not match your sex. For some people, it is a life-long thing. For others, like my aforementioned sister, it is just a phase.

Hormone blockers? The thing that is completely reversible and has no lasting consequences? But simply allows teens the time to come to terms with themselves? That?

Because there's no possibility that could have been "very bad for her," but it is kind of ridiculous that she wasn't able to get it. Why not? Did your parents feel like being jerks for no reason?

My parents and family were very supportive and her, it was just illegal for minors to get it. Also, she wanted surgery and everything at the time.

Depends on the study, but it's extremely low
the largest one i can find (n=27,715), has it at 8%-with a caveat:Of these “detransitioners,” only 5% did it because they realized it was not for them, accounting for a mere 0.4% of the overall sample. And even then, 62% of those who had de-transitioned reported that they were currently living full time in a gender different compared to the gender they were thought to be at birth.

Other work has it at very similar numbers-.47% in the UK (page 139).

The number of kids who start and don't process with puberty suppression is only slightly larger, (Netherlands): 2% for girls, and less than 1% for boys, whereas Australia has the number of detransitioners who made it to stage 2 to be none

Kowani wrote:Ohio to let trans people update their birth certificate

Nah, not interested in coming out in a Red State. That's a bad time waiting to happen. I think I'll move somewhere friendlier before I start really transitioning.

I can only work with the bounds of the laws passed by the states themselves-local conditions are harder to pinpoint
with that caveat, there are people dedicated to this which have in-depth indexes

in that paradigm, i'd say urban areas are a safer bet than rural ones on average (though they're no paradise either)

but having gone through the indexes, your best shot with laws on the books is the following collective
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Hawaii
Illinois
Maine
Nevada
New Jersey
New York
Rhode Island
Washington
