For improving your national factbooks and worldbuilding, I'd suggest that you go and read examples from other people. I will put some recommendations below:

Kiu Ghesik
Synne Industries
Silver Commonwealth
Valentine Z
Socialist Macronesia

Don't read mine though since I'm lazy and inconsistent.

As for improving RP, just embrace what makes your country unique and make sure not to powergame/godmod whenever you enter an RP with someone. Also, RP doesn't have to be active RP, passive RP can be interesting and can be used as a method of worldbuilding if you feel like expanding on a feature of your country. As for ensuring that your RP is high quality/long enough, use websites like wordcounter.net, since they are very useful for telling you how long your post is and can help you determine whether you believe your post is long enough to be posted in the RP thread. Read some RP threads in the RP forum as well, high quality RP threads generally have great examples of what an RP post should look like, and will help you take a step in the right direction.

In general it's a good thing to have a direction you want to take your nation. For example have an idea how the general population embraces/or hates religion, cultural heritage and history of the people which has led them to where they are today. Is the nation a result of times of struggle, hardship and war? Or have the people been enjoying relative peace throughout the ages? These small differences are quite fun to use in a way to generalise the population.

Another thing I stick by myself is trying to keep things relatively realistic.

Improvement in RP comes over time and with experience. I secretly look up to a few RPers of old and started with learning from their style of role play to eventually develop my own.

In the end, the most important factor to fun role play and world building is having fun with it yourself and not forcing it upon yourself.
