I am a centrist (Note, since you're American - I'm probably far left for you) and I agree. So no, not all on the "left" do that. If it is our culture that makes us treat people better, than yes, it is superior.

Nope, marriage is not a natural law. Marriage doesn't occur as a natural phenomenon in physics. It's a social construct that people have devised. Christians adopted the concept of marriage from cultures that have preceded Christianity by centuries. The Greeks, the Egyptians, the Babylonians etc. Marriage is not something that's exclusively Christian. So yes, it actually is a relationship status, a social relationship status to indicate that two people have devoted themselves to one another exclusively. But even that definition is subject to change and interpretation, because polygamous marriages are marriages as well.

It doesn't matter what form of marriage Christianity recognises or not, marriage (as a union of exclusivity between two people) is marriage, and Christianity doesn't get to determine what counts as marriage and what not. We as a society do that, and if society decides that marriage can be between two men or two women, then that is a perfectly viable and true marriage. As I said, the concept of marriage literally predates Christianity. What gives Christianity the right to determine what is and isn't marriage?

If a human being decides to discriminate against an individual with a sexual orientation because some members of said orientation have a particular world view, 'justification' is out of the window. Hell I would argue it's impacted religious communities more, what with the nature of the close proximity of people during church events. Disease tends to spread faster when you're crammed into a church pew listening to people speak and pray for a while.
