I would want to have dinner with Martin Luther King Jr, Anne Frank, Abraham Lincoln, Carl Marx, Socrates, Rosa Parks, and Maya Angelou. We would order a ton of pizzas for dinner

I wouldn’t invite Anne Frank solely out of fear she’d try to w*nk me.

I read her diary AS A LITTLE KID.

Even just a few random people who never saw or did anything important?

Yeah, ordinary people don't get enough credit.

Thales, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Socrates, Origen, Zoroaster, Zhuangzi... The thinkers I like who left little original work behind. I would have loved to talk to people like Heidegger or Foucault, but their thoughts and opinions can be more readily extrapolated.

And you'd probably get more insight into their times and culture, than talking to someone whose word was taken as gospel in their own times and culture ... as they struggle to assert their superiority against equals bearing the unfair advantage of being from their future.

High powered dudes meeting for the first time, even when they both know each other by reputation occasionally goes wrong. But I guess that's covered by the supposition these are only exact copies of historical individuals at some point in their lives, while the originals of each continue living in the past, unaware of the dinner party or any logically impossible knowledge of their future.

The further conclusion that the dinner guests are never allowed to go "home" to their own time, but must be executed or sold on AliExpress, can be put down to San Lumen being a very bad host.

This inference does however cast light on San Lumen's persistent interest in what the feed the dinner guests. It's very likely their last meal!

On a visit to Dessau a couple of years ago I saw mention of Carl and thought it was a typo at first, but when it started referring to him as a student I knew it was someone entirely different, as old Karl had been in his grave for about half a century, so it'd be quite a feat if he managed to be a student there in 1932!

You've not heard of Heraclitus, Heidegger, Foucault, or Parmenides? That's surprising.

No, given the context he means Michel Foucault.
