Speaking of tanks, the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus, the heaviest tank ever built to this date. It's 188 tonnes of pure sinking into soil, 12 km/h on hard surfaces, being so heavy it would destroy any bridge it crossed, so it had to snorkel or submerge to cross, a useless 128 mm cannon, an even more useless 75 mm cannon, a massively overstressed engine, the list of failings goes on and on.

And don't even get me started on the P.1000 Ratte! That thing could probably sink its way into the Earth's core with that much weight!

The idea of using a surplus 11" naval turret is interesting. Cutting down from 3 main guns to 2, is a reasonable compromise, but the only way to proceed from there is Mobile Artillery rather than a fully armored Tank: put all the crew in the actual turret, leave the engine outside with the tracks ('cos logically you don't need an engine if even one of your tracks is fucked) ... but still it would be a Scare Them To Death weapon 'cos it would lose an artillery battle due to shortage of ammo.

Naval turrets aren't made to turn quickly, are they? Probably not much back armor either.

Zeppelins aren't much faster than ships, and the most disgraceful emissions are not passenger jets (they at least have a good reason to go as fast as possible), it jet air-freight. Potentiated I think by second-hand passenger jets, which are only going to get cheaper in the future.

How about turboprops? Turboprop planes are noisier and more cramped, and don't even come close to the majestic and graceful form of the zeppelins.
