Sometimes it's better not to stoop to the level of your enemies. Back in November I told people that I did not like the idea of bloody violence between the right and left wing in America because I don't see the trumpsters as my "real" enemy and I dont wanna cause harm to people based on their ideology alone, even if they wanna do that to me.

I still find it ironic that his supporters are now saying that being glad he is dead makes one a bad person; while they laughed loudly when he celebrated the deaths of thousands with funny sound effects.

Do I celebrate Limbaugh’s death? Not especially. But I do understand the dislike he evinces in others and why they may not be broken up about his passing.

It's weird how much of my life this dude was, really. Right before he went national he was a local call in host in my hometown and my dad was an avid fan, so growing up he was on the radio a lot. At the time, as the only point of view I would ever hear, it made sense I guess, and it was my dad's world view, so...

Once I actually met people and test those positions and found them wanting I recognize how shitty he was, but that couldn't change how familiar he sounded, the sound of his voice, his what we'll call a sense of humor, it's just one of those sense memory examples that puts me in a place and time.

I've never enjoyed that someone so toxic was an anchor like that for me, but you don't always get to pick your memories i guess.

He was a giant piece of shit. But in so much I don't relish celebrating death and because of that connection no matter how unfortunate that sucks. I'm not laying any flowers, but I can acknowledge the passing of a human. Much more broken up by all the humans that died because of the shitbag he didn't even like that he still enabled, but ya know.

In life there’s various degrees of achievement. The higher the better.

Level 1 - You are known locally as someone important by word of mouth.

Level 2 - You get mentioned regularly in national papers.

Level 3 - You get mentioned regularly in international papers.

Level 5 -NSG mentions you when stuff happens to you IRL.

When I was in about the 5th grade, my mom would sometimes have Rush Limbaugh on the radio on the way home from school. I remember his constantly angry voice, how loud he was-and I’m a loud person. Eventually, I told my mom, “Can we please listen to something else?” She put on a Catholic talk show-much quieter, much gentler. We never listened to Rush ever again. But that was a couple of weeks, at least, of hearing Rush on the way home from school. I never paid attention to the specifics of his show after we stopped listening. Why give attention to someone whose show made people so angry? It’s why I don’t listen to Colin Cowherd, and why I don’t watch Fox.

That said, I’ve had two family-members die of lung cancer. It was a horrible, withering death to witness. I hope that in his last days, perhaps he contemplated his life and what he said to others. Maybe in the quiet twilight of his life he had an experience of regret over not saying kinder things. Everyone has their regrets when they are about to go, not just famous radio-show hosts. He was expecting to go for some time-I remember him making the announcement about his diagnosis last year.

Hug your elderly loved ones. Make sure they receive all the care and love in the world, especially if they are sick with cancer. You never know how long you have, what they wish to say, and how their hearts have changed in light of a terminal illness. Anger, sadness, guilt..but you should always make sure your last words to them are, “I love you.” I hope those were Rush’s last words to someone, for his soul’s sake. I hope he remembered that those three words are the only ones that matter in the end.

Whether or not his show left a bitter taste in my mouth-and it did, as would many talk-shows based around politics-he is in God’s hands now. Many people on one side made comments about Ruth Bader Ginsburg when she passed, and others became enraged. Sure, she was not the same type of person as Rush, but both of their deaths have had polarizing effects, with one side happy and the other side booing. I said the same thing then-her soul and his soul, are in God’s hands, and out of His hands we cannot take them. I pray that their hearts have been opened to the love of God, Whose word is truth and mercy.
