Given that these people didn't think selling Pelosi's computer to the Russians was morally problematic I shudder to think what country would've ended with VP's nuclear football had the rioters gotten even just a little bit further.

Did Democrats storm the US Capitol while chanting about killing the Vice President? No.

Did President Trump lie about election fraud, tell extremist groups to stand by, tell people to fight like hell, not deploy the national guard, and continue to encourage the crowd after they broke into the capital? Yes.

Trump once saying to protest peacefully doesn't absolve him of responsibility for setting the date, priming the crowd, and then aiming them at the capital.

First up is an amendment that would lead to redistricting reform. The amendment would allow the state 10-member redistricting commission(made up of 4 Democrats, 4 Republicans, and 2 non-partisans) to approve a new legislative map by majority vote if a single party holds both legislative houses. Currently, it requires a two-thirds majority when a party holds both. Second, the amendment would require prisoners to be counted in the census according to their last known residence rather than the prison they're in. Third, it would require the state to count non-citizens when it comes to redistricting. Fourth, State Senate district would no longer be bound to the "block-on'-border" requirement, meaning that (A), city blocks could now be divided into different districts, and (B), the commission is no longer required to take adjacent towns or city blocks on the borders of districts in mind when drawing maps. Currently, they have to ensure that towns or blocks are placed in such a way as to make neighbouring districts equal in population and the districts can't have a greater population difference between them than the population of that border town or block. Fifth, it would permanently cap the State Senate at 63 seats, and sixth, it moves up the deadline for redistricting to November 1, 2021(and so on) from January 1, 2022(and so on).

Amendment number two would create a constitutional right to clean water, clean air, and a healthful environment.

The first amendment, to be voted on on May 18 like the others, would amend the constitution to prohibit the denial or abridgement of rights based on race or ethnicity, primarily to stop Affirmative Action.

Amendments number two and three both regard emergency declarations. Two would limit emergency declarations issued by the governor to no more than 21 days unless the legislature votes for an extension. The amendment would also allow the legislature to pass laws regarding how these declarations can be managed. Three would allow the legislature to unilaterally extend or terminate a governor's emergency declaration by a simple majority vote. This resolution could not be vetoed by the governor.

Anyway, gotta say this impeachment really is a waste of time. The Republicans will never, ever vote to convict, Trump's base is impervious to the evidence and the Republic's in a bit of a suicidal death spiral at this point anyway. Should have gone with the 14th amendment, bar him from future office and be done with it.

Finally, I'm early to a US Politics thread for once!

The Republicans will never hold Trump accountable. I swear this guy could have started genociding Americans and they'd stand by and do nothing. Even now, after a terrorist attack, they didn't hold him accountable. This is why the thought of a Trump 2024 run is scary. Because the GOP has been compromised and turned into the Trump sockpuppet party.

If the Republicans did convict Trump, it would head off a party split caused by Republican's opposed to Trump leaving to form a new party, instead forcing out pro-Trumpers, leaving a Republican Party without Trump's toxic legacy. As if those pro-Trumpers who would split off to form a new pro-Trump party would succeed any more than any previous attempt at splitting from the main party has. Sounds like a win win to me.

Not al leftist protestors in Democrat run cities with Democrat mayors protested violently. They made a personal decision to not do so, many protested peacefully.

But many others protestors tore down statues and monuments, burned buildings and businesses at times owned by ethnic minorities, looted stores, throwed projectiles at cops, and killed innocent cops and persons.
