Hispanic is a race now. That's why people ask if Cardi B can say the N word as a Latina despite the fact she's clearly "black," and it's why confusingly not so long ago B real could get away with saying the N word despite looking "white." Many people I've met draw this weird distinction between white and hispanic and they include in the hispanic category anyone who is Latin American even if they're not visibly mestizo. Did you know for instance that about half of Mexicans are visibly Caucasian in appearance? They actually collect this data down there. But despite half of Mexicans looking like a Sicilian at darkest, they're just seen as "latino" here. This confusing dynamic is why I'm white in Puerto Rico but brown in this country. Because at day's end, race is mostly made up and the racial categories one comes up with are arbitrary, so hispanic is basically a racial category now that includes people who look white, people who look black, people who look mestizo and people who look full on Indian. And racism against hispanics tend to lump all hispanics together.

He does kind of have a point, though. When an ethnicity is so embedded in the national culture, and so familiar to ... I can't think of a better word: the mainstream ... it's barely different to a race. People see the racial characteristics, they assume the ethnicity. If that minority person expresses their ethnicity well enough, and aren't obnoxious, the mainstreamer can easily accept them as a "black friend".

GMS should think of how much his character contains Ethnicity, and how little it contains Race, and maybe stop calling himself a Cuban American. Just a Proud American, whose ethnicity is no big deal.

Her business was some kind of investment scam, and she had $13 to $20 million dollars of other people's money (mostly Ma-and-Pa investors by early reports) when she disappeared 4 months ago. Now a foot matching her DNA has been found.

As a white guy in a heavily majority-white nation, I should not offer an opinion. But treating people just the way they treat you (with of-course a safety valve if they treat you like shit) is usually the best approach.

Superior/Inferior treatment can be subtle. In Australia, the default is casual and a bit lazy. You do not take it as insulting ("I've got better things to do buddy") and try to counter that with more friendliness (they will think you're "on the make" in some way), but nor do you stand silent as though demanding they pick up the conversation. You just come right back with the same.

Something I discovered on my mad odyssey through Queensland, is that Queenslanders don't mind a bit if you try to imitate their accent. I got back to Sydney, visited my mother: she laughed out loud at my Queensland accent ... which I didn't even know I had. I think you have to be more careful with using words from another person's language (mixed in with your own), and particularly their ethnic slang. I would be honored to be called "cousin" by a blackfella, I respect their keeping that racial distance that until they know me better I'm not a "brother" but right off the bat they will acknowledge that we're both in the big family of humanity. But I have never got a good reaction addressing a blackfella as "cuz" or "cauan" as they say. I doubt I'll try more than one or two times more, before thinking it's actually a slight, like "not-my-brother".

If you're among people with strange ways, the first thing would be try to learn their language. I mean, how do you react to people who introduce themselves and you're not even sure what part, if any, is their name? Then they keep trying to talk to you in the same language while you don't understand a word? Better people than me try to find that one an interpreter. I just wave my hands in front of me and hope they'll talk to someone else. But if they'll stop for a minute, and try words in different languages, it's really amazing what someone with two hundred words of English can communicate, with hand-gestures, or single words of their language which I can guess (or look up, because you see by this stage I'm willing to put in some effort).

Well just so it is with accents. Putting in too much effort, and using your best Irish accent right away, will probably offend. And to judge by the ethnically Irish I've met, it could be ten minutes later that you realize you offended them, because now you're offended too, and it's hard to pin down why exactly. But that goes for all accents: don't put on your best imitation, because it will be right in many ways, yet wrong in some ways, and faking will offend most people. But don't be afraid of what I think is a natural function of the brain {to speak in a way that is best understood}. If you gradually begin to speak like them (in accent, use of emphasis, use of lyrical tone, use of slang, etc) they will definitely like you more. If they're not doing likewise, then stop, because it will creep them out. And always be aware that you're establishing a power relationship: if you continue changing your manner of speech to better suit what they want to hear, but they don't do the same back, then what they're interested in is Them Superior, and You Inferior, more so for ever and the more you will let them. Assholes.

One more thing. A person who speaks to you in public, much more loudly than necessary, does not care about you personally. They want everyone else to hear what they say to you, and this tells you all you need to know.

But wait. You told us all about a rally where you saw some ladies at a table, collecting signatures for (I dunno) something a bit anti-Trump. You went over and chatted with them for a while. Sounds like you got along great, so, did you adjust your usual tone of speech while you talked to the ladies? I think you probably did, but search your memory. Did you avoid words you commonly use? Speak more softly than usual, or use warm old-worldly phrases like "respect your opinion" instead of "freedom of speech"? Now this is asking a lot I know, but what people write about often sticks in their memory: do you remember your accent changing while you talked to the ladies with the petition?

Many Persons have a misconception of President Trump, he is not really racist, look at the pic of President Trump and Tiger woods, a black African American, source MSN News through The Hill:
