I think you are right. It is a convenient fallacy to think that deeply flawed people are simple by nature. Their thinking may be "simple" in the sense of stupid, but it is not "simple" in the sense of predictable. I believe Trump was a child of well above-average "native intelligence" but lacking the nerd's knack of become good at any one kind of thinking. Always intent on proving himself smarter than other people, at expense of ever becoming good at anything. He probably had an excellent memory (not essential to high intelligence, but definitely enabling of it), enabling him to pass courses when he had to, but not put to good use with expertise ... except maybe in the junk science of Economics.

Why would I recognize Trump as such a dire "waste of talent"? Different circumstances. I wasn't given a million dollars to follow my dreams out of high school, then a billion more as I learned to take financial advice. But I was given board and lodging for as long as I could keep passing the courses of my choice at the university of my choice, without any debt accruing to me. Almost no-one gets that (unless a mom-and-dad scholarship is somehow not considered accruing debt) and I shamefully wasted it. Trump and I are alike, in that we were both spoiled for opportunity young in life. But unlike him, I have the humility to admit I fucked up.

The pattern of epic failure followed by tragic downfall fits the picture of a massively spoiled young man who could never do well enough to earn praise from his father. Also dependence on said father to keep young Donald's head above water. But what completes the picture of President Trump is fixation on a person almost never mentioned: Mary Trump his mother. I haven't read the biography by the other Mary Trump but I'm sure it gives insight in Donald's relationship with his mother. I suspect her influence accounts for Donald's lifelong resentment of the cruel dealings Donald had to get involved in, to follow his father's footsteps and earn success in a way he would approve of.

Real estate speculation is a cruel world. Perhaps we can see a trace of virtue in Donald Trump not being that good at it despite years of subsidized attempts. Certainly in his move away from residential (Fred's business) to commercial (time-shares, hotels and casinos). Being President at all must surely exceed any expectations his father might have had, so now perhaps he will have a complete change of heart and try to win the love of his dead mother. Hoping.

Just saw this and I gotta say, Trump must be more full of shit than any human being has ever been before. Someone please prescribe this man some pills to deal with all that constipation.

No you are 100 % wrong. I have stated on 2 or more of my posts, I wish I could have gone with my Cuban and American friends, they did not storm the Capitol Building or commit any acts of violence and neither would I.

It is irrelevant that you and your friends didn't attack the capitol. The fact remains many did and many have said they did it because of what the ex-president said.

They were not influenced by speech or President Trump to commit any violence.

The ones who attacked the capital were influenced by the ex-presidents words. Many if not all arrested have stated this.

President Trump said Protest Peacefully and Patriotically. Not Protest violently.

That is a lie. He grudgingly tweeted that two hours after the fact. They have him on tape being all happy and giddy the attack was going on.

I have condemned the violence on the Capitol Building. I have condemned the bad cops who killed black African Americans like George Floyd.
