You defeated the evil nasty mean Trump, you should be reveling in your victory while your government tells you how privileged white homeless people need to stop oppressing PoC with cars and houses.

Sorry, was I supposed to vote for the man who let 200,000 people die because he didn't want to bruise his ego? I'll take "woke" nonsense over actual psychopathy any day. Sorry to hear your moral compass is broken; maybe try getting that fixed, hm?

It's not like a silver-spoon millionaire gave a shit about me anyway.

Cannot think of a name wrote:You wanna have a poor white off? We can have a poor white off if you want. How much time have you spent homeless? Have you ever crashed at the house of people who tried to steal your car because they thought it was abandoned? That was a fun one. Oh, slept at my full time job for a while because it wasn't enough to pay for rent. Good times. I went a month and a half eating chips because I snuck a stack of free bag of chips coupons. That was great.

I'm poor as fuck, son. And have been my entire adult life. Also white as fuck. But yeah, play that game. It's super convincing.

This isn't the major pwnage you think it is.

It's really fucking sad that after going through all that you don't want people in that same position to get the help they need because somebody else in the same situation is from a demographic that faces more discrimination than yours. Suffering isn't a contest, dude. It's okay to help everybody.

Premise unsupported.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

We'll get pain and suffering with Biden and Trump, sure. But not in the same amount. One is just happy to let a pandemic runs wild, because listen to science is for the weak, and because he's too busy anyway trying to turn the country into a personal dictatorship. The other did his best to solve the pandemic, perhaps not only due to his good heart, but at least he did it. And the Covid relief bill did provide lots of help to alleviate the suffering, even if it wasn't enough. And the infrastructure bill will also likely make things significantly better, even if it's the not Green New Deal we would need (world-wide).

Again it's the fallacy of gray - not having pure white nor pure black doesn't mean there is a single shade of gray. Sanders would have been much better than Biden, but Biden is already significantly better than Trump, despite all the shortcomings, irresponsible and sometimes criminal policies followed by Biden.

So as a way to fund road infrastructure, it's not a terrible idea in of itself. It's how the fuel tax works effectively - people who drive more pay more in road tax. People who drive heavier vehicles pay more in road tax (consuming more fuel).

It is rather difficult to administer compared with the proxy for it (fuel tax), and I don't see the reason to get rid of an easier method for a more difficult method, or, alternatively, adding the more difficult method when we could just increase the tax on the easier method.

Plus using the simpler method has a few side perks as well - more fuel efficient vehicles are effectively incentivized, as they are cheaper to operate.

These are the same people who find it more palatable that children are homeless and depend on schools to have two meals per day instead of housing reform and a slight tax on a handful of the population, so it's not like this is some drastic thing.

So? You're taxed on how much your vehicle weighs, when you register it. Some places, there's a sliding scale of charges for water, the more you use, the more expensive it gets. Toll roads are a tax on how far you travel. Secretary Pete's entertaining the idea is nothing much. Heck, the GOP in Georgia just made it illegal to give water or snacks to people in line at a polling place. That's a bizarro world.

Good. Those restrictions disproportionately affect the poor and minorities. John Oliver did a bit on it.

Take your tax dollars elsewhere. I know personally I won't be buying things from Georgia after that.

Counterproposal:

We make motorcycles exempt, and we subsidize motorcycles for the poor. Motorcycles do much less damage to the roads to operate, and are more fuel efficient to boot.
