In SpeechNow.org v. Federal Election Commission, a federal court found restrictions on individual contributions to independent organizations that seek to influence elections to be unconstitutional. And in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that limits on corporate and union spending to influence elections were also unconstitutional.

Progressives disagree with these rulings.

I think they are terrible rulings to but that doesnt mean every in office is in the pocket of corporations and lobbyists. The term lobbyist is also used as a blanket term. I bet their are groups or interests people here support and I guarantee they have lobbyists.

Congress can only pass 3 recon bills per year, and the Byrd rule restricts them down to addressing the budget spending only. After this package any other non-budgetary reform will need 10 Repub votes.

How do you come to that conclusion? If they can't make inroads on the coast and the Willamette valley they have no hope of winning the state legislature or statewide office.
