Loujain al-Hathloul was released this Wednesday after imprisonment for 1001 Arabian days. Her sister, Lina, tweeted “Loujain is home !!!!!!” Al-Hathloul was imprisoned for demanding the right to drive in Saudi Arabia, which was illegal, despite the fact that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) allowed women to ride camels and horses by themselves freely. Ironically, she was released just days before the Saudi monarchy would legalize women driving. She reportedly was subject to torture, abuse, and threats of rape while imprisoned by the Saudis. The move, believed to like the Egyptian one be to appease the new US Administration, has been welcomed internationally. However, Loujain is not free: she is still under restrictions and her family faces a five year travel ban.
However, the al-Hathlouls aren’t just gonna sit by. As Lina al-Hathloul tweeted “The fight is not over. I am not fully happy without the release of all political prisoners.”

They helped them and now we have countries like Syria Lebanon and Iraq who only exist because of where The British and French claimed land. They turned a blind eye to what happened on the peninsula and the discovery of oil only made matters worse. Their practice of Wahhabism has created a powerful enemy in the region.
