How are we involved in this? I am seriously baffled.

Well, it matters WHERE one wears the ring.

I have an other idea. How about something to let people know you're open to a relationship, advertise you're single and seeking. Like a horga'hn from Star Trek. It would save a lot of guessing and wasted effort.

Or, one can ASK people about things like relationship status.

Yeah, it's not hard to ask someone if they are single or not. It's the girls fault and this is a huge overreaction.

Did it not occur to her to ask someone at a much earlier stage if you were in a relationship or not?

I mean, forcing married individuals to wear their wedding ring isn't going to help her if she takes a shine to someone who's cohabiting without being married, or in some other form of serious relationship.

Anyway, one person's temporary embarrassment isn't grounds for making company policy.

You, on the other hand, have a fairly solid case for making a complaint about harassment.

No, of course not. It shouldn't be obligatory for someone in a marriage to wear a wedding ring, and the coworker should have stopped at the refusal. Instituting that requirement is ridiculous.

I read a science fiction book by Larry Niven about a human society which communicated moods and social status (not class) via patterns, colors, textures, etc. of clothing. If I remember correctly from it, pink signaled interest in a relationship and all black signaled a desire to avoid one.

But generally in real life, verbal communication as to whether someone is interested or not should be sufficient, although it would be convenient to have a symbol to indicate lack of interest in an intimate relationship but open interest in a more conventional, friend-friend one.

If they are made compulsory in the workplace then at least say that they need to be onion rings, so that they actually have some use.

Maybe she should try not hitting on her coworkers. Doing so is rarely a good idea.

No.
Why does it matter if a person is married or not, shouldn't no mean no?

Yes.
If the roles were reversed wouldn't holy hell rain down on the guy?

Depends. Most often a man would face about the same degree of consequences as she seems to be facing: that is, none.
Why do some women think they are entitled to a man's attention/time and NO just isn't an acceptable answer?

Same reason that some men think the same. A basic lack of respect for others' agency and wishes.
When I am at work, I'm there to work, I've done the inter-office/coworker romance thing when I was younger and the majority of the time it never ends well, so I avoid it after learning it the hard way.

Exactly. This was a bad idea on her part from the beginning.

Interestingly there’s now polycarbonate rings available.

But ya if you tell someone “No” you don’t need to give an explanation
