That can only carry on for so long before something breaks. And it's not just the wages either, if the rank and file find it impossible to live normally, even when getting their pay, then that increases the likelihood of mutiny.

She did commit genocide after all, and is honestly not as democratic as people are hoping for. However, I slightly side with the NLD because under them, there is actually room for criticism of their policies and free speech.
Also, guerilla war is definitely not the answer because a war would quite frankly open up the divide in the country, and a massive, massive civil war would break out between multiple factions. Oh, and let's not forget that Myanmar has a beautiful rainforest that would get destroyed in this war. Honestly, there isn't a really good way out of this. I guess we just need to hope that it eventually blows over.

It is a certain privilege of ours that we generally imagine armies as subordinate to their administrations, rather than as parallel organisations with their own independent interests and agendas.Kowani wrote:Arisyan wrote:Honestly, I really don't like either sides of the movement. Point
Kyi did not commit genocide
That was the military, which, while under Kyi in name, was entirely independent in reality
The critique is that she is a collaborateur, which is still very fucking terrible

She was initially charged with illegally importing six walkie-talkie radios. She was later charged with violating a natural disaster law by breaching COVID-19 protocols while campaigning during last year's elections. Two more charges were added Monday, one under a section of a colonial-era penal code prohibiting publication of information that may "cause fear or alarm" or disrupt "public tranquility," and the other under a telecommunications law stipulating licenses for equipment, relating to her alleged ownership of the walkie-talkies

Other ethnic minorities in Myanmar tend to become independent or merge into other countries.
Therefore, the internal war in Myanmar has never stopped. In this case, the Myanmar military will naturally gain greater power.
Aung San Suu Kyi gained her status by relying on the support of the Burmese. Therefore, in order to maintain her position in the hearts of the Burmese, she must support the Burmese military’s war against ethnic minorities.
However, she hopes to amend the constitution to restrict military power through the Bamar votes. In an unpeaceful country, this will only intensify conflicts.

It's no longer safe to simply protest, and the military divisions involved in this are several degrees of fucked up with awful history behind them.
I think the way forward against this barbarism is with strikes, sit-ins, and civil disobedience to make the country totally ungovernable and economically paralysed.

J. M. Brallier and R. A. Parker, Who was Albert Einstein? New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 2016. Chapter 6. wrote:Albert was very lucky to have survived in Nazi Germany. In 1931, while Albert was a guest professor in California, Adolf Hitler declared Albert a spy. Hitler put out a death warrant for Albert. In 1933, while Albert and Elsa were returning home from their trip to California, Nazis broke into the Einsteins’ summer house in Caputh, Germany. A bread knife was found in the kitchen—a perfectly natural place for a bread knife to be. But the Nazis used the knife as “proof” of what a dangerous man Albert was. The Nazis seized everything Albert owned—his home and his money.

Straits Times has a bad habit of not playing ball with Firefox and uBlock Origin - I can't see the article, only a white screen.
Alas, I will have to check later. But yes, suddenly everyone is getting new changes, perhaps even outdated crimes that you probably didn't even know of.
