Good point.

It’s the question of impact and resources. School renames will have negligible impact for improvement on eduction. Resources because of all the materials that will have to change. The time spent arguing over what is a safe name.

Finally, you assume they won’t simply say LOOK! We did this for you and then let the bigger issues drag on.

or they could focusing on educating the students and not discuss nonsense like this to advance a far left woke agenda.

Honestly, I'd be fine with renaming Washington state if solely to stop confusion between DC and the state. Something like "Cascadia" or "Pacifica".

I don't see why the national capital shouldnt be named for the first president of the United States and who was literally the only person who had the respect and reverence he had. There was no one else who could have led the country as effectively or been able to hold it together during its early years.

Conveniently we'll never know because that's not how time works. So I'll have to take your word for it that there was literally no other person in the United States besides Washington who could've led.

Nonetheless, that means nothing. If the name of the city changed today, we'd all move on with our lives. It wouldn't effect much.

What's your alternative names?

Public School 001 or PS001
etc.

It avoids the cancel culture. You can rename it to a person as it looked like they had nothing offensive and then somebody finds an obscure whatever where they did something bad and it starts all over again.

That's the fundamental problem with the standard the school district adopted.

I still say geographical location is a good way to do it.

Got four high schools in your city? North City High, West City High, East City High, South City High.

Got a creek named Fisher's Creek that goes behind your elementary school? Fisher's Creek Elementary

got a lake near your city named Lake Wallahahee? Got a school within a few miles of it? Lake Wallahahee Middle School.

Well....For SF they could go SF001, etc.

I was thinking well hell why not take it across the nation and just give then a PS and a number?

I'd be fine with that. It'd be hard to do that with a whole city, though.

It would be difficult, however people get to learn more about history (by researching these people and such) and it feels likes it makes these people more relatable. Sure some of these people killed thousands possibly millions, enslaved minorities, and did horrible things, but the fact still remains that they were all human. Doesn't justify their actions, but it gives a sense that they are the same as us. Same species, same genus etc.

The current way at looking at some figures in history is as these perfect superhumans, when in reality no one is like that. Who would want to learn about a perfect person? Not me! But if they had flaws, downfalls, and weaknesses, but still impacted our society I want to learn about that person instead.
