It’s the question of impact and resources. School renames will have negligible impact for improvement on eduction. Resources because of all the materials that will have to change. The time spent arguing over what is a safe name.

Honestly, I'd be fine with renaming Washington state if solely to stop confusion between DC and the state. Something like "Cascadia" or "Pacifica".

I don't see why the national capital shouldnt be named for the first president of the United States and who was literally the only person who had the respect and reverence he had. There was no one else who could have led the country as effectively or been able to hold it together during its early years.

Conveniently we'll never know because that's not how time works. So I'll have to take your word for it that there was literally no other person in the United States besides Washington who could've led.

Nonetheless, that means nothing. If the name of the city changed today, we'd all move on with our lives. It wouldn't effect much.

Ok, I'm ok with having a statue of say Columbus, however, the statue should be non-bias and show that this person was not a hero and in some ways was quite bad.
