All I know is that Wall Street does something with lots of computers and phones (have a work culture of long hours and being bullies to each other)... ding ding ding... red and green numbers and graphs go up or down and somehow the net effect of this is to make the American government and economy more money while making the rich richer and maybe the poor poorer

A "Brick and Mortar" store is a physical store where you go to buy things. Gamestop is one of those. It's a bad business model because games are increasingly digital and people are doing more and more online shopping. Gamestop was failing, that's why short sellers bought it like they bought the car.
