Unless you are dealing with a whack job, most robbers are going to rob you when you are not home. All they need to do is find out you are on vacation, you posted some pictures of you being in the Caribbean or something, or you are at some event, you are sitting down in your favorite restaurant, or are at a specific place where you spend several hours like the gym or a meeting. This is not hard to do. Basically, someone waits there and orders coffee. This is why it is important to have good neighbors.

The one with the claymore is the only remotely scary one, and that only because claymores can be rigged to be triggered by electronic eye or remote detonation. None of the others has any physical means of using their weapons besides ramming at a speed too slow to do any damage, assuming the motors can even handle the weight.

I know some people don't report a burglary, if nothing of substantial replacement cost was taken. Because making an insurance claim will lose a bonus which is worth more over a few years, might increase their premiums, and might have the insurer around demanding alarms or better locks.

Or they might not have insurance at all. The chances of getting their stuff back are minimal, so why bother showing the cops around your house?

With no context, it sounds like you might have been shot at because someone was hunting unaware of your presence or mistaking you for an animal. If my interpretation is proper, at least in that context, you wouldn't need a gun to protect yourself but rather a declaration that human hunting season isn't until next month.

Nope, the smart thing to do is to gather your stuff, your family, your friends and get the fuck out of the war zone first. The enemy can surround the city, cut off its supplies and bomb it to shreds. I don't want to kamikaze myself by making a heroic, but stupid last stand. So long as I can live, I will always find an opportunity to fight. A surrounded city is not one.

The very nature of NS's design makes it very unrealistic, even if you are trying to be realistic. Every Issue is designed such that there are no reasonable options, and those that seem reasonable on the face of it have unintended consequences that are not. Even if a player doesn't use NS stats, that just makes the situation such that it goes in the direction the author wants it to, leading to it once again being no proof.

Any further discussion of this should probably be moved to telegrams to avoid a threadjack.
