I think 24 would have been a even more interesting show if the first time he tries to torture someone it doesn't work and then they never do it again because torture doesn't work.

Yeah, or if people died because they relied on intelligence obtained through torture.

I liked that they showed signs of fatigue and hunger in the first season though, it made it a tight thriller when everything felt like it was true to time. However, they quickly forgot about realism afterwards...

While I find it disgusting torture does work. A skilled interrogator can get nearly anyone to break. Nearly everyone has a limit that they can’t stretch beyond.

Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

The triumph of the Democracy is essential to the struggle of popular liberty

I wasn't being facetious when I named this phenomenon psychosis in the last thread. There are large groups of politically active people in this country who have literally lost the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.

Rainbow Six is literally about a bunch of vegan, deep ecology terrorists that try to use the Sydney Olympics to wipe out humanity with a super virus while they hide out in the Amazon rainforest to repopulate humanity.

Torture never works because every single person will break. It just that means any information you will get is absolutely useless because people don't answer real questions when being tortured, they say what the torturer wants them to say. It's a lie that people can resilient against torture they aren't, but if I truly don't know where the bomb is why would you believe me if you're torturing me for an answer? Torture has nothing to do with interrogation.

Torture works if you're not after useful intelligence. Torture sends a message, instills fear and terror, can pacify individuals, etc.

Republicans are seeking to replace the canvasser on the state board who voted to certify the election. Should he not be renominated the party has three nominees for the Governor to chose from one of whom said she would have voted not to certify the election

Linda Lee tarver one of the nominee said No election after 2020 should be considered fair unless we get this right this year,” Tarver said during the hearing the board held last year.

Freiheit's a closet racist with cryptofascist tendencies using libertarian rhetoric to justify it all. He's already established this despite his vehement attempts to deny the obvious. I don't know why it's a big shock anymore.

How is wanting to allow businesses to discriminate against customers racist? I didn't say I like it. I also said I dislike smoking but I don't want to ban it. Why can't a business ban people if they want to? Many on this board support Twitter banning Trump but you think a business can't choose to discriminate for something else like race or religion? I never said business MUST discriminate, I said they should be allowed to. There is a difference.

I am more tolerant of opposing views. If you hate whites and don't want me as a customer, cool. An Indian motel owner in Illinois refused me service and I assume it was for racism. He said it was my age but I was over 21 and the license even said when I turned 21. He probably lied and it was likely racism (I can't think of another reason, I was not being rude and I was alone). I slept in my car and didn't report him. I was upset and wish he simply posted a sign saying 'no whites allowed' to make things clearer. You think only non-whites are discriminated against. I was also refused food in China and it was likely racism which is fine. People are different and have the right to be racist (although it is unethical).

In Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, healthy males under 50 years of age can be sentenced to a maximum of 24 strokes of the rotan (rattan) cane on the bare buttocks; the punishment is mandatory for many offences, mostly violent or drug crimes, but also immigration violations, sexual offences and (in Singapore) acts of vandalism. It is also imposed for certain breaches of prison rules.

Yes, but that's two nations...out of more than 200.

The article also mentions Brunei and some African nations.

African countries still using judicial caning include Botswana, Tanzania, Nigeria (mostly in northern states,[6] but few cases have been reported in southern states[7][8][9][10]) and, for juvenile offenders only, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

It's not a bad position in principle, but then you realize that there are no actual facts behind it. It's become pretty clear that to the people pushing this narrative, "getting it right" just means "making sure we win."
