There were two reasons I didn't think that was going to end up being true: first, WAY too fast to determine cause of death with that kind of specificity. The other was the process where someone would accidentally taze their own nutbag is awkward and doesn't make sense, really. It just smacked too much of something someone would make up. And, they did. But that was the story early on.

Keep in mind that these were members of the Special forces of the 101st Keyboard Brigade. I'm sure several of them have written strategic fan fiction, envisioning how it would all play out if they just got through the doors to the Capitol, and thought they would be greeted as liberators, and a grateful nation would hail them as Heroes after Pence decided to declare the election overturned.

There was a serious faction that came planning to do some serious shit, then there were a bunch of revellers who got caught up in the excitement. Typically we talk about the latter but shouldn't forget the former.

Yeah, I think we can put them in three major groups:
1) Random protesters just caught up in the excitement, and following the flow. A lot of them seriously angry, but not planning anything before the event / before getting riled up by Trump.

2) The military cosplayers, 101st Keyboard Brigade, who fantasized about storming the Capitol and being heroes. No plan beyond "Breach the Capitol, overturn election". The eponymous dogs catching the car, and not knowing what to do with it after getting in.

3) The Serious Dudes with plans. Still not thinking things through, but hoping bloodshed would change the outcome of the election. Looking for trouble and violence.

There were two reasons I didn't think that was going to end up being true: first, WAY too fast to determine cause of death with that kind of specificity. The other was the process where someone would accidentally taze their own nutbag is awkward and doesn't make sense, really. It just smacked too much of something someone would make up. And, they did. But that was the story early on.

There are some things I happily accept to be true because my world is better that way - for example I choose to believe they put David Bowie into the space suit in the Tesla and sent him on his merry way into space because I prefer that world. And I choose to believe one of the supporters died by tasing himself in the nuts.

At some level I get the reality, but at another I choose my own world.
