If they were to go any farther, I doubt that there would be any Republican Party left.

McConnell's being weird. Why would he 'betray' Trump like he has, and now take a stand in his defence?

Either worship Trump like the rest, or get with reality. Stop hopping back and forth and pissing off both sides.

The harsh backlash against Trump and particularly anyone involved physically in the Capitol riots gave them comfort that it was a one-off and that they didn't need to actually keep the pair of balls they grew when they had that first taste of fear.

As much as Republicans pussying out is a bad thing, putting terrorists behind bars is a good thing. So you know.

4D chess is back..

A Trump advisor told the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman that Trump attorney Bruce Castor’s confusing, meandering performance was a “deliberative strategy.” designed to lower the emotion in the room.

Though not sure Trump saw it that way..

Multiple people tell me Trump was basically screaming as Castor made a meandering opening argument that struggled to get at the heart of the defense team's argument.

Get at the heart? I thought that was the heart of the argument. I did hear that Schoen was supposed to go first but they switched at the last minute after Raskin's presentation.

I haven't particularly read the transcript of the argument, I assume Trump's annoyed that he didn't talk about all the electoral fraud.

I think Trump wants his defence to be 'Trump's speech was perfect, there's massive election fraud and you guys had it coming'.

Modi, Biden agree on Indo-Pacific but not so much on Quad, democratic values & Myanmar

Biden could possibly turn his back on the Quad and focus more on foreign policy with traditional allies in Europe, which imo is an extremely stupid move considering the rise of China

A few excerpts:
Dems Play Trump’s Remarks at Impeachment Trial But Leave Out Call to ‘Peacefully and Patriotically Make Your Voices Heard’

I think the impeachment process against any person, is biased, partisan and political. Like it was against Democrat President Bill Clinton, whose impeachment I did not support.

I think it is un constitutional to impeach any person from any office who is not conducting the office, as impeachment leads to the removal of the person from conducting the office.

If this excerpt is true, it proves this is a biased, partisan, anti Trump, anti Republican, political impeachment trial, based on nothing but personal and political hate, not about justice in America, not about justice in the USA. Just like the first impeachment trial. I said if this excerpt is true. Based on my conversations with many persons, I am not the only person who strongly believes so, there are millions of us American citizens all across the nation of the USA who strongly agree with me.

I mean, considering how much of an inroad China is making into European politics with their Belt and Road and all, if Biden wishes to pursue a containment policy against China he'd be well-advised not to neglect the United States' traditional European allies either.

"Putting terrorists behind bars" is NOT actually a good thing, if they're common criminals.

Maybe it's impossible to get Trump on a charge of Treason, which is a shame since his intent was treasonous and his followers engaged in serious felonies. That charge is almost never laid because it has a very poor record of secured convictions. But incitement to violence, contempt of Congress, and possibly insurrection would paint a picture very like Treason for a court.

To be really familiar with that Constitution, they'd have to read a lot more than the plain text.

Maybe it's respectful after all? Like carrying your own copy of the state road rules in case you have to prove to a cop that there's no law against running a red light in reverse ...

Biden needs to mend broken ties with traditional allies first (thanks, Trump!) before he can even think of amassing a coalition against China.
