That's not true, we're getting a lot done! Maybe we won't be doing much in the halls of Congress, but California and the forests of the other Western states aren't going to burn themselves down, and even without our active support any more, I'm sure the Saudi war machine will continue to successfully grind down the Yemeni civilian population with only our tacit approval and non-intervention.

The government of this country is the one to blame, not the people, and the ruling government has managed to divide the nation by playing politics and stoking partisanship so the populace remains a non-threat to them

At least it seems like McConnell has accepted Democrats to actually have power? Of course thanks to Manchin and Sinema that now means he gets to filibuster every single fucking vote and we get to drag our feet on everything for another 2 years.

He didn't have much of a choice a power sharing agreement had to be reached in order to organize the chamber.

Even Marxist states with minimum foreign interference struggle or collapse. About the only people in the modern era who have made it work are are the Norwegians and Swedes for example.

Well, it's the Soviets' own fault for giving their own military the power to conspire against them. Should've gone for truth, justice, capitalism, civilian control over the armed forces, and the American Way! :p

You don’t even need a powerful military, just a competent one and that’s more than enough to defeat most communes

Ask a leftist for an example of communism or socialism prevailing and it’s always Norway, Sweden, or when it’s convenient China.

What Marxist states? The USSR professed to be Marxist-Leninist and China, Maoist.

It's not the best line of attack on State Communism, as they prioritized food and housing. The West does fine with food, by producing so much that a lot goes to waste and can be scavenged by (or donated to) the poor. Housing for all however is NOT a strong point of capitalism.

Is it? Or is that just what you've been told by other people happens when you ask a leftist for such examples?

Either way, seems like a departure from American politics at this point.

The Nordic countries are centre-left, same with New Zealand, and the Republic of Ireland to name a few.

Although, socialism and communism are not the same. And even within those 2 terms, they are broad. There is a difference between a democratic socialist, and an authoritarian socialist.

I don’t think anyone except for the most die-hard Bernie Bros actually think Norway and Sweden are socialist, most well read leftists (or any person well read in political theory) can confirm they’re not
