Maybe it's naive of me but I have hope for the future again. I'm no optimist, Hell I'm fairly cynical, but the constant negativity and pessimism I get hammered with by Boomers (especially my mother) and Gen X everyday gets sickening. I like looking on the bright side every once and a while. I don't think Biden is the pathway to paradise but I'm here hoping this election is just one of many that will be a step in the right direction.

Don't soil the illusion for me. I want to believe there's still hope for this country.

That said, imo, by the end of the century the US will probably be an autocracy of some sort even if it's disguising itself as not being one. With any luck, it'll be benevolent and take on the more idealistic trappings and metaphysical roots of monarchism as opposed to the pure, raw self-indulgence associated with tin pot despots.
