MIC? But I do feel as more businesses close up political donations, Republicans will become more supportive of convicting though that's honestly ashamed it takes that to get that support.

I’m interested to see where Biden takes the Space Force, because I feel it’s genuinely important to have a branch of the military dedicated to not only national security in space, but also to conduct excursions and missions for the advancement of the country. Space Force was one of the few Trump actions that I genuinely liked, and Neil Degrasse Tyson seems to agree

Two -- potentially three? -- impeachments in roughly two years? Civil unrest? Misinformation everywhere? Racial and social tensions? I'm telling you, powder keg...

Kind of tough to say how fully accurate this will be but his post-Presidency life is about to become hell, especially since he doesn't have the protections of the Presidency anymore. He'll have to worry about the millions he has to pay off and businesses losing revenue/business but worse, the pending lawsuits and possible prosecution he'll face, as well as being barred possibly from running for office.

He will do well. He can sell books, get paid $50,000 per speech, and he will get paid to have lunches with people (like Warren Buffett does-only Trump will likely keep most of the money).

Don't worry about Trump going to the poor house. He will still be wealthier than likely 99.9% of people on this website.

The Military Industrial Complex

Ah, got you though I'm pretty sure his relationship with them was never the warmest.

Speaking professionally for a moment the industry will still back the GOP, albeit I can assure you from chat I'm hearing it's becoming more and more reluctantly amongst a lot of FFL holders, because it's genuinely suicidal not to. A lot of us would jump ship if the Dems stopped being dumb but it's a culture war issue and that's not gonna happen.

Pence is a Baptist, or some kind of Protestant like that.

They don't build Cathedrals. They build incredibly bland, mostly white walled, places of worship. Sometimes they just buy spaces in malls.

There will come a time in the near future when a majority of the American population will be tired of this hyper partisan bickering tearing the country apart, imo that will be the best time if ever for a truly third positionist movement to take hold, although in America, the only forms of third positionism with a chance of succeeding and improving the country are Huey Long’s style of politics

That only proves that it wasn't just full of poor people. Many of the people there drove from places nearby like Virginia and based on how they look, I doubt they were rich.

Rather classist. You think they check your credit score before someone is able to buy flannel? Maybe you missed the message that has had some anti-intellectualism hidden in it but is none the less true, trades workers actually make pretty good money and often end up business owners as well. Not to mention that not everyone dresses the way they dress for work the same way the dress for an insurrection. I can say that most of them looked like most of the well off assholes that I see at every cigar lounge and the jobs we're hearing about these guy's losing are not 'working poor' jobs. Those lifted trucks you see flying those giant flags aren't exactly cheap. Until either of us get an actual demographic survey of the people involved we're just guessing but to look at their beards and flannel and decide 'they're poor' is the kind of attitude that has discouraged people from trade work when it can be very lucrative.

There won’t be a third positionist wave, just a military coup. The military is pretty much the only institution left that still commands significant social trust, eventually they’ll feel they have no choice but to act.

Wasn’t Huey Long more authoritarian than FDR, to the point where FDR and even conservative Republicans compared him to Mussolini?

How can Floridians move? Sell their houses and just pack up and leave?

*angry grunts and axing the wall noises* There's just a small problem:

SELL THEIR HOUSES TO WHO, FREIHEIT? FUCKING AQUAMAN?

Lakeland and Orlando homeowners will happily rake in money as their homes will have quick beach access and increase in value. People that live near the coast are asking for trouble. Hurricanes and typhoons are warnings and nobody should want to live within 3 miles of the coast. Most people will be dead by the time all the icebergs melt and half of Florida is gone. You are warned now, don't buy homes near the beach. Also, don't live on a cliff and then cry when erosion makes your house fall down. Yes, the first time that happened was sad. However, people keep building homes in bad areas and expecting they will be lucky.

Some Democrats like the idea of disarming law abiders as well and seem hostile to self defense.

Can you actually impeach a post-presidency dead person?

Can we get a lawyer on that?

Yes because nations are really going to have open arms to refugees

If they open their arms to Iraqis and Syrians (which have a history or warfare) then I think they will take in people from Fiji and Samoa and Tuvalu (which are more stable).

If they prefer to avoid financial suicide over actual societal suicide, I suppose that’s their prerogative. We all have our weird preferences on how to exit the stage gracefully.

For what it's worth, Washington did note that if there were a north-south division on the issue of Slavery, he'd side with the North. Which of course is more than a lot of Virginians did when that divide did end up happening.

Hhhhhh...sure, alright. If that's what it takes for a living breathing president who encouraged an attack on the legislature and the attempted murder of his Vice President, if we have an awkward reckoning with our problematic history, sure. If that will make Lindsey happy, sure. Okay.

He was also the only governor during the Great Depression era to actually improve the lives of his constituents directly through his policies, by funding LSU, enacting sweeping social reforms that left his legacy as a champion of the poor, and was supported by both the right and the left which was rare at the time

He also pissed off both the KKK and the various socialist movements at the time, which is a double win
