The Lincoln Project might not support Trump but it is still cringe. I'd be happy for him coming out considering it's not easy to come out, but the inappropriate messages aren't ok no matter how repressed he is. Hopefully he's able to remain in good contact with his family.

No witchcraft required, just a willingness to unquestioningly and unfailingly kiss Trump's ass and suffer any humiliation on his behalf.

Also at this point it's kind of difficult for Trump to find a lawyer willing to come within 50 feet of him.

He's not appeared on the list of expected names to run, thank goodness.

So far only one person on each side has declared their intention to run.

For the Democrats, Erica Smith has made clear she'll be running. She lost to Cunningham in the 2020 primary but was the runner-up in that primary among all the Dems who ran.

For the Republicans, Mark Walker has tossed his hat in. He is a former U.S. Representative representing NC's 6th Congressional District. He decided not to run for re-election in 2020 so his term ended January 3, 2021.

An open seat is going to be an open invitation to Trumpsters, even if they have no axe to grind with the previous incumbent. Attracting them even more, by Burr voting to convict, would be a mistake.

There's a reason survivalists tend to go inland, to the least populated and least hospitable places. It's not just because land is cheap. It's also because of all the threats to life they envision, other people are the worst.

Shouldn't we be glad that Donald Trump would pursue the exact opposite strategy? Bunker down in the most extreme point of the contiguous 48 states, and attract to himself and his core cultists, all the deplorables who love him best? It's South Florida: the people there aren't great but they're not the worst either. When we build the wall, we will accept refugees no questions asked, while also waving through anyone wishing to check out Trump on the condition they never try to leave again. The exact details can be left to future leaders, but one way or another the Trump dynasty and their cult followers and anyone brave enough to live near them, will be neatly excised from the United States. It's not genocide, it's leaving them to their own devices. It's not exile, it's a grant of land in exchange for going away.

I think Google translate from their native language, would be easier for us. But it's hard not to respect Phoenicaea's growing vocabulary: he/she knows English words I don't. If they used simpler sentence structures, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with the occasional out-of-context word.

"A regiment" I think means a military unit, and I'm not the one to criticize because I've very fuzzy on whether a battalion is larger than a company etc. I THINK the non-specific term for any of them (ie not implying how many troops) would be "unit" but I'm not even sure about that.

Reading and trying to understand things you find difficult, will make you a better reader you know
