Most Americans have your attitude. They think prisoners deserve to be attacked in prison because they are 'scum.' I had a cousin go to prison for several years for a robbery. His action was wrong, he deserved to be punished (although his sentence was too harsh), but I don't think he would deserve to be raped and beaten (most prisoners don't deserve that). I don't think he is a pieces of scum and neither are most prisoners. I think he is someone that did a dumb action and deserves another chance upon release. Stealing a car, robbing a bank, or stealing a piece of pizza does not automatically make you 'scum' deserving of torture. Only a few prisoners are truly 'scum' and even those ones should not be tortured by fellow prisoners.

Quite the opposite actually. Democratic institutions have actually succeeded quite well. They have succeeded in withstanding Trumps onslaught on trying to subvert them with his lies of election fraud and sending a mob to storm the capitol. And there is no need for SCOTUS to get involved with 60+ something courts(including Trump appointed judges) have dismissed his cases due to his total lack of evidence.

If you think minimum wage should be $15, why not raise it to $20 or $25 an hour instead? It sounds nice raising the minimum wage until it just makes people with salaries of $40,000 a year the new underclass.

Better to create a national health care system instead of raising the minimum wage which better protects poor people from inflation.

No, it wasn't- but the court said it would have rejected the case regardless. 7-2 the court refused to hear it based on how absurd the claims presented were and the two dissenters both said they would've voted no in a theoretical vote but believed it was the court's obligation to hear even the stupid, absurd cases, iirc. The others just didn't want to waste the court's time.
