To destabilise a democracy it is not necessary to actually undermine the impartiality of institutions. It will suffice merely to cast doubt in their impartiality.

We are seeing that in live display here.

So you wouldn't trust the guberment to handle your brother planning to commit domestic terrorism fairly, but you're all for handing the power to beat the crap out of shoplifters and vandals and building special going away camps?

Do you trust the guberment or not? make up yer mind.

Or do ye just not like poor people?

I am not an anarchist and I want to reduce some laws. Illegal immigrants are adults and most know they are violating a US law when they illegally enter and often illegally work. They need to be held responsible for their actions just like a thief would be. By brother would be a criminal. If the govt. catches him, he should be punished. It is not my job to help the govt. catch him unless I choose to make it my job.

Caning properly is not the same as beating the daylights out of them. I am not advocating police using batons to beat prisoners' heads in or sodomizing prisoners (as NYC police did before).

I already understand you're a coward already.

But I can't tell if you are trying to place more or less trust in the government.

I am just pointing out, if Biden supporters can riot, than you should not complain when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, and even try to remove the tyrannical government.

This just tells me you have no clue what tyranny is.

Winning an election is not tyranny. You lost, get over it.

Singapore is orderly and functional in an almost surreal and uncanny way, but at the cost of expression, many personal liberties, and a feeling of spontaneity and life among the populace. I've heard some horror stories.

Oh yea. In one way it’s refreshing to be able to walk around and not think about being hassled. Indian shop keepers tend to be agressive sellers. They were quiet in Singapore.

You could actually go down a dark allyway and not be thinking if somebody was going to jump out. Got lost at one point and it was during the taxi rate changes. At certain times of the day, taxi’s disappear. :D

We've been seeing that happening for over four years now. It's a frightening experiment to live through.

I was always confused as to why the South would honor a rebellion forged to protect the institution of slavery.

Replacing that Confederate statue with one of John Lewis seems like a good step in the right direction.

Prison rape happens a lot. I would much rather be caned than raped. To me, being raped is much crueler than being caned.

I'm surprised this is the first person here I've seen openly support an attempted fascist coup against the US.

If you think minimum wage should be $15, why not raise it to $20 or $25 an hour instead? It sounds nice raising the minimum wage until it just makes people with salaries of $40,000 a year the new underclass.

Better to create a national health care system instead of raising the minimum wage which better protects poor people from inflation.

Cool. I personally would've chosen Coretta Scott King, as her resting place is in Atlanta, but John Lewis is a welcome replacement as well.

Again you have presented no evidence of an incoming tyrannical government.

Riots are very different from storming the capital.

Finally Democrats have condemned the violence of the riots, while President Trump and his supporters have encouraged violence.

You act like a living wage and universal healthcare are mutually exclusive.

I would not call this a fascist coup though. But hey let us compromise: let us balkanise the US. Liberals, conservstives. Blacks, Jews, whites... Everybody gets their part of the country.

I wouldn't call it a fascist coup, either. I have been convinced it was an attempted coup, though, so points to Kowani and Rojava.

Also, balkanize the US? Do you have anywhere else to store your straw? I know shaping it into men saves some space, but you're clogging up the room and messing up my carpet.
