The officers at the time had no knowledge if she was armed. All they knew is that they had to use force to put down a hostile and non responsive individual.

Welll there is this ability oh you know arrange a meeting with your officials. You don’t show up with a mob, smashing doors and windows, attacking guards with chants like hang Mike Pence. You don’t usually try to jump through a smashed window after the guards with guns warn you off.
