Karl Popperites and other such theorists have already taken power in the anglo-sphere (including Germany). It's just a matter of lack of enforcement of their ideals as it's not really practical to control a population like this. Only practical to steer public opinion through manufactured consent but not via cracking down on dissidents. There is just too much and as long as there are social ills there will always be someone opposing the government apparatus in some way shape or form.

I think a shock has been sent through the American system, that image of the Capitol covered in smoke and ripped flags and an angry mob is not far off the image of 9/11 with smoke pouring from the towers. Given that shock I suspect you'll have a year of soul searching on one side as the rate of conspiracy and insanity rises on the other.

Give it a year for that insanity to transpire once more into a crisis.
