Oh wait all of that is still happening right now?

Yeah. It's all still happening and stands as a testament to the moral corruption of the PRC, the illegitimate band of criminals that occupies the ROC for the time being. You may be optimistic about this but myself and any other sane person is not. The people living on the mainland won't see this rise in wealth as their overlords work them to death for almost no pay while controlling their lives and stifling any liberty they may enjoy. With any luck these predictions are wrong.

So this is the reason of ROC is better than PRC.

The “people on the mainland [seeing] a rise in wealth” is exactly why the PRC is stable and internally popular despite being a corrupt, authoritarian leviathan. The legitimacy of their state is really based on their ability to deliver on economics.

Propaganda is a lot more convincing when the people can themselves see how much better their lives are compared to what their parents’ were like when they were the same age. Asides from the occasional muttering about air pollution, most urban-Chinese are pretty content with the way society is going. That’s the real reason why democratic movements in the PRC never get anywhere.

I too am very optimistic, and I bid the Chinese people good luck in their endeavor. :)

They're also closer to HK.
