The problem with the Chinese culture is precisely that most of it is good but only several (less than 5) aspects are not only screwed up but actually very screwed up. Not really. I bash China hard precisely because the Chinese are highly capable due to the good work ethic, talents and ambition. With greater capabilities comes greater responsibilities. The Chinese outside the toxic environment known as China such as Chinese Singaporeans and Chinese Taiwanese can do a lot of good. In fact a lot of crucial open source software are written by ethnic Chinese. So are founders of Nvidia, Lam Research and Yahoo as well as a significant amount of world class STEM researchers and even the first person who discovered COVID in US near Seattle. However if put in the toxic environment of China the same virtues of the Chinese will be harnessed for evil and precisely due to these virtues the consequence of Chinese people doing evil, voluntarily or involuntarily, is very serious. Such evil I must condemn.

Compare that to Germans. Germans have many virtues. They are mostly highly disciplined, innovative, brave, punctual and really good at planning. Such virtues without Nazism have delivered a lot of tech innovations to humanity. Yet with Nazism the same virtues were harnessed to industrialize the mass murder of Jews and Slavs in a way ancient mass murderers could have never achieved. This is precisely what happens when a people with a lot of virtues and a few vices commit crimes.

There will always be people who migrate in different directions. There are even people who migrate from South Korea to North Korea. Does that mean NK rocks and SK sucks? There are always more people emigrating from China than immigrating into it.

Man, I don’t understand why you’d actually side with China. I really don’t. Yes, let’s just be blunt. The infrastructure of the West is archaic compared to that in NE Asia. The crime rate is also horrible especially if you are in US (depends on where you are, New England is actually pretty good). Even the average life expectancy (but not after controlling by race, the Asian one is actually very high) is lower. However more interesting things are done here than in China and even Japan and Singapore. The middle class and the upper middle class of Germanic peoples are not really better than (and are often worse than) their NE Asian counterparts. The working class of these cultures are actually much worse than their NE Asian counterparts in terms of social health (divorce rate, drug abuse rate, crime rate etc). Moreover NE Asia does not have a criminal underclass at all. However the decisive Germanic advantage is at the top. Individualism allows the best and brightest in Germanic societies to shine while conformism prevents comparable people from reaching their potential in other cultures except for Jewish ones. That’s the real secret of England and Germany that made them work.

This is why I ditched China and will never look back. It is not really even about the communist party. Instead it is about the fact that an endorheic basin, however beautiful and safe, pales compared to the oceans. Yes, I know, compared to Chinese, Japanese and Korean majority societies the rest of the world indeed look unsafe if not outright like a battlefield. I feel that myself. As for my observations of student experience here in general:


My classmates talk a lot about mental health or various trendy social causes like gender pronouns for some reason. I used presentations/my office hours instead to explain difficult concepts using my Asian culture (fun music videos, historic specialty foods like this (Really good!): https://www.10000recipe.com/recipe/6849609
,etc) to help them understand while having fun, or just share funny videos from back home to make everyone laugh. Strangely, I might run for our Chinese student union. We all get each other. We treat each others to meals, KTV, etc. I don't have to apologize anymore: for being in a foreign country, for not speaking perfect English, whatever, even though we are rather judgmental on grades. I actually don't make effort to make friends with Westerners anymore. On top of that, it's too mentally taxing for me to discuss Hollywood, 1980s music or whatever, which has nothing to do with my culture. Girls here always want to talk to me, hug me or whatever even though I keep running away ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (One time, 1 of those girls got her friends to surround me in the library/she hugged me. The women who chase me around are the most popular girls in class if you're someone who cares about popularity. In fact, my professors even invited me to their office hours. (Personal invitation.) They love it when I break down complex class concepts into the readily understandable for my classmates, ex: with Chinese proverbs (we all know them by heart), or our Asian media (anime,manga, music videos), etc. And these are people with Ivy league graduate school degrees, some even worked on Wall Street once. I didn't expect it at all. (My latest professor who worked on Wall Street before raved to the class about the fried chicken dating video.) You should've seen the look in my professors' eyes when I suggested bringing traditional peanut or milk candy from back home, or my girlfriend to bake the class some cherry blossom (sakura) cookies.


I didn't know how much I'd miss home until now. I'm arrogant and selfish for complaining. How dare I when you see those starving homeless and plasma donations outside, but the cafeteria food isn't as good as back home. Shanghai jiao tong university has food so good they have takeout (to go) via Wechat now, even on college campuses you have hotpot, BBQ, traditional cherry blossom (sakura) cookies, 青糰, traditional mochi, etc from all over the country. (Mochi is historically actually Chinese, from around Jhejiang (浙江). My friend at USC by contrast made a vlog complaining about the food, in fact almost all my friends complain about it at some point XP

I/my countrymen were taught to always treat people with respect, to always keep cool no matter how vile others can be. As for my observations of student experience here in general:


My classmates talk a lot about mental health or various trendy social causes like gender pronouns for some reason. I used presentations/my office hours instead to explain difficult concepts using my Asian culture (fun music videos, historic specialty foods like this (Really good!): https://www.10000recipe.com/recipe/6849609
,etc) to help them understand while having fun, or just share funny videos from back home to make everyone laugh. Strangely, I might run for our Chinese student union. We all get each other. We treat each others to meals, KTV, etc. I don't have to apologize anymore: for being in a foreign country, for not speaking perfect English, whatever, even though we are rather judgmental on grades. I didn't know how much I'd miss home until now. I'm arrogant and selfish for complaining. How dare I when you see those starving homeless and plasma donations outside, but the cafeteria food isn't as good as back home. Shanghai jiao tong university has food so good they have takeout (to go) via Wechat now, even on college campuses you have hotpot, BBQ, traditional cherry blossom (sakura) cookies, 青糰, traditional mochi, etc from all over the country. (Mochi is historically actually Chinese, from around Jhejiang (浙江). That’s precisely the problem. To ensure maximal innovation you can not sterilize a society. Things such as organized crime should not actually be fully stamped out and citizens need to know how to use a weapon. Otherwise you can be vulnerable to stuff such as random violence.

You said you don’t want your kids to grow up in California. Well, guess what? White people can exist in most of the world. Black people can exist in most of the world. Indian people can exist in most of the world. Everyone else can move around. I do have a suggestion for you: bring your future kids to a place like Atlanta and let them play. You may initially need to supervise them so that they are unlikely to simply die. But they do need to be able to walk around in places that are not as dangerous as certain parts of Detroit at night. Otherwise they won’t be able to even visit Dubai or Manila. Their life experience will be a lot more limited which is awful for them in the long run. They need to see the Middle East. They need to see Africa. They need to see Europe. They need to see Latin America. Let them move around and meet people. The world (outside Chinese/Japanese/Korean majority places) is chaotic. That’s ok. Learn to live with it and thrive in it. Get a legal gun and practice in a range. Don’t be afraid of people in general.

You need to train your kids to be leaders, not obedient Confucian children who will never be respected in any non-agricultural NE Asian society, especially sons. They need to know coding. As for the "frat," I don't even know where to start. I actually love shooting (ironically, my mainland friends are bigger on this than me. Both socially liberal and socially conservative places are not perfectly safe lol. I have been in both kinds of places haha. It really depends on what you want. But no matter whether you decide to join the ranks of Antifa, Proud Boyz, BLM, a Shia mosque or a Ghanaian church you are free from China. That’s what matters the most.

1. Most foreign girls don't have the looks, sorry. As per my previous post, we're rather picky on looks, career etc, so the foreigners get the leftovers. So that narrows it down.

2. Even though my ex girlfriend had it all (popular, good grades/looks etc), there was constant cultural shock (the birth control pills, taking pictures or whatever of us together/posting it to that damn app called snapchat which I hated, etc.) (I always tried to delete what she took.) I admit to being kind of sexist I guess, I didn't like her dressing provocatively in public. (It's fine if she does so for me in private.) Or even the notion of women doing alcohol, smoking etc at all (just a sense of discomfort, from instinct). Females back home don't dress or behave like that at all. I don't know how we'd raise kids like this. Among the many issues.
