It takes years to build aircraft carriers, China would have to build a few aircraft carriers, alongside dozens of Frigates, Corvettes, Destroyers, and Nuclear Powered submarines. If the US saw them doing any of that, it's likely they'd be sunk to the bottom of the ocean by the US' submarine fleet.

Mostly it is not. China is not Japan. When I was there I ate fish but that’s because I was in a southern coastal area.

It is fascist. In general many PRC-born people more familiar with global affairs, myself included, have the mindset of pre-WWII West Europeans. I just have a very different version of 1940s mindset: the Jewish one. Avoiding getting murdered is my obsession. To me nothing beyond 1940s other than Israel really except as a false vacuum that can collapse back into 1939 at any time. Everything is between the rise of Japan and the establishment of Israel.

For most PRC-born people who at least know a bit about international affairs WWII is literally what most of it is about because China does like to play Western and Soviet documentaries about it. There are also plenty of WWII-themed games in China. Since there were almost no Chinese involved in the European theater China is less biased about it and fans of western militaries, Nazis and Soviets all exist.

P.S. Oddly a lot of the WWII-themed games we can download on iOS and Android were made in China. Some are in face irreplaceable maybe since Westerners and others don’t have that much interest playing as Germans marching through Poland, France and Soviet Union for fun.

Vietnam won every single war in the past thanks to the temperature and the forests. In recent decades they have cut down most of it, so whatever tactics they used in the past can no longer be used anymore. Also every country has better war technology than before so even with the forests and the underground it won't do very much. The best aspects of the history of the Chinese are the ethnic Chinese intellectuals and merchants in Americas, Southeast Asia, Africa, Oceania and elsewhere and the history of Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong as well as Kongsi Republics in what’s now Indonesia. People such as Terrence Tao and Samuel Ting in science and Henry Sy & Dhanin Chearavanont in business.

The worse aspects of the history of the Chinese are the numerous Chinese dynasties that treat their own subjects like shit, can hardly win a foreign war but regularly had civil wars with more than 50% of the people dead. People from Qin Shihuang to Mao and Xi.

Since there is so much Sinostatism associated to both “China” and “Zhongguo” I think the name “Chinese” needs to be renamed “Sangleyian” and the country be named “Republic of Sangleyia”. In Mandarin they will be 生意人 (lit. merchants) and 生意共和国 (Republic of the merchants) respectively. (“生理” means “biological” and sometimes related to female hygiene products in modern Mandarin so it is not a good name for an ethnic group).
