Minnesota town approves whites only church: Says not racist

The Minnesota town of Murdock in Swift County has approved a whites only church and the town council says they would have faced a protracted legal battle if they did not. Its a rural county in the central part of the state.

The church will be used a by a group called the Astaru Folk Assembly. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes Asatru Folk Assembly as a “neo-Volkisch hate group” that couches “their bigotry in baseless claims of bloodlines grounding the superiority of one’s white identity.”

The group, based in Brownsville, California, says teachings and membership are for those of strictly European bloodlines.

The church was looking for a new church in the eastern North Dakota region when they came across Murdock. It’s unknown how many members they have worldwide or how many people will attend the new church.

Many residents call them a white supremacist or white separatist group, but church members deny it.


There has been extensive backlash against the decision by town residents and the county. Racism has no place anywhere and while churches are different from a store or public park it doesn't make it ok. It isn't the 1800s anymore this type of thing is not acceptable.

Would any black people want to join the church? Churches should be able to whatever rules for who their priests are, who they can as part of the religion etcetera theyw want as these things only affect the congregation who believe in the faith anyway.
