While many liberal politicians suggest that they would make concessions to improve lives of working people as opposed to their more corporate opponents, it often appears that they fail to deliver their empty promises beyond shallow gestures. Meanwhile, these same politicians appear quite happy to cooperate with conservatives when it comes to catering to the needs of corporations. After all, only the rich can win in elections dominated by corporate influence. This leads many of us to wonder about the relationship between liberals and the poor. Despite their claims of suporting equality, I often encounter liberals making nasty comments, deriding voters of certain groups as merely poor, and associating their poverty with uncleanliness or stupidity. Others, despite their outward commitment to equality, nevertheless echo claims such as "the poor deserve it" or "minimum wage workers do not deserve a living wage."
With that being said, do liberals hate the poor? I personally believe there are many who simply refuse to admit to their own classist ideals.
