Yup. Dissolution of the government is a terrible idea, in my opinion.

I’m generally surprised by the number of people who think Balkanization is a good thing. The event that created that name resulted in thousands of people dead and multiple genocides. But everyone find their courage on the internet I guess.

I'm genuinely worried about this possibility, and I hope it doesn't happen until far in the future when nations no longer exist.

That’s generally what for how for too. At most peaceful separation, such as with Czechoslovakia (although that may not be the best example from what I’ve read, as popular support at the time wasn’t for it.)

Nations will always exist. There's a nation of Americans, a nation of Basques, a nation of Turks, and a nation of Kurds. Nations will always exist as an inevitability.

Even peaceful separation could be disastrous at a time like this when tensions are quite high.

Nationstates are also an inevitability. As long as there is a nation, there will be people who fight for it, especially in dictatorships like a global empire or a global socialist vanguard state. We've seen it in Russia, in Yugoslavia, in China, in Japan, and in Britain. Nothing is an exception.

Yeah, no, there are times when I seriously believe the federal government is the only thing stopping some states from becoming repressive theocracies.
if they want to become theocracies thats their choice, the federal government stopping it is just suppressing democracy
