Maybe not directly, but balkanziation results in destabilization, which results in death and suffering. At best it goes like the Soviet Union, where an entire generation of young men killed the endives with crime and drugs, at worst it goes like Yugoslavia, with war and genocide. I’d argue that the world would’ve been better off if those two nations reformed instead of collapsing.
