This time around I’m not so sure you’re going to be correct.

Trump has already stated before that he has no problem with going independent, on top of that a large chunk of his base hates the GOP now, including McConnell, Kav (who they now think is a rapist), and ACB (who they now think is in bed with the Clintons)

Since when does his base hate Kav and ACB? Are the Newsmax/OAN radicalizing news cycles really moving that fast and I'm just behind the times? I can see them not liking McConnell, since no one really LIKES gerontocracy except for the gerontocrats, but I distinctly recall them rallying aggressively to Kav's support and cheering on ACB's nomination and confirmation.

I don't think he'd have a problem with going independent, but I do think he'll now be reluctant to, because he sees himself as having won control of the GOP and will be loath to lose it (see: how he's behaved about losing the presidency). Trump didn’t invoke the Insurrection Act because Esper and and other heads made clear that the military wasn’t going to humor despotism. That the Secretary of Defense must make such a statement in the first place, and that he was effectively fired for doing so, is a sign in itself.
