The US capitol is being stormed by pro-Trump demonstrators. Why? In order to stop the certification of the election results and go against the will of the people because these protesters, like the man they support, live in a fantasy world where the election, which was one of the most secure in American history, was stolen from Donald Trump. It doesn’t fit they’re narrative that he was God sent and invincible. It doesn’t fit the vision they had in mind where he was re-elected and his xenophobic, Islamophobic and racist policies could continue.
Shots have been fired, and the Vice President escorted out of the Senate building for his safety.
For those who ask me all the time why I don’t go back to Africa (or in some cases, go back to Saudi or Iran), let me answer: first of all, because I love this country. This IS my country, and you don’t get to decide whether it is or not. I was born here and intend to die here. And secondly, why pay so much money to go to a different country that’s now no different than the one I’m in?
