IMO while the full end of the American republic is still some time away in the future, today I think marks the point in which it can be said there is no going back. That the US military has now had to step in to facilitate the transfer of power within the government and that it seems like there was internal jockeying on whether or not to deploy the DCNG in order to quickly sweep out those who stormed the Capitol is also not a good precedent.
