How is this different from the House of Commons getting stormed by pro-hunting activists? The scale, the fact that it's about an election rather than a single bill or that the president is possibly encouraging it? I'm not denying what you say, I'm just trying to catagorise this event since I am passed being shocked. I think I will be shocked if the protesters actualy achieve anything beyond delying the procedings for a day.
I'm not Archregimancy, but what scares me about all of this is the potential precedent.
It's what scares me the most about any of Trump's post-election antics. Not that he'll succeed doing them (he hasn't, and it was unlikely from the start that he would), but that he opens the door to much more competent people pulling the same shit.
And now, we have a man who whipped his base into a frenzy watch as they storm the capitol with the intention not to oppose one singular bill, but to oppose democracy itself, and the best thing he has to say is "be peaceful guys!".

Chist.
Should canada just come in and annex the US now?

I am genuinely afraid for the continuation of the liberal democratic world order.SD_Film Artists wrote:

B) The House of Commons protesters didn't have guns, and no one was shot.

He hasn't tweeted that they should stop what they're doing, just that they be peaceful about it.
Which is okay and all, but a) he could tell them to stop entirely not just be peaceful, and b) he could've not falsely contested the election and whip his base up and feed them lies to a point where this happens.
He did not do the best he could, assuming you are being serious and not sarcastic about this.

Basically this. Part of me wants to point at populism, specifically the authoritarian kind that we've seen with Trump and quite a few other world leaders, as a fuel for all this.

wh- falsely? theres too much evidence for there not to have been at least SOME fraud. full on videos of them pulling out boxes of ballots and continuing to count after ppl left a few months ago, and theyre claiming that theres 130% rate for biden which should be statistically impossible.
