I still don't think there is strong evidence that Trump has any kind of mental illness. He's a narcissist but that's a different thing. Depression, anxiety, OCD, these are things you have, while narcissism and psychopathy are who you are.

Not true. Narcissism can be a mental disorder.

Orderly filing in? They literally trashed the building.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Reports Trump Was ‘Borderline Enthusiastic’ Watching Mob of Supporters Storm, Ransack Capitol

President Donald Trump put out a video — after his supporters had stormed the Capitol as part of a massive violent riot — telling people to be peaceful and go home (though the video started out with the same lies about a stolen election that riled them up in the first place).

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported Wednesday night on how the president was really feeling behind closed doors while watching all this unfold.

Collins told Don Lemon early on Thursday morning that more resignations are coming, including possibly from National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien. (Deputy national security adviser Matthew Pottinger, who Collins said was also considering resigning, has since resigned.)

She went on to detail how people in the White House were “shaken” by the president’s response to the violence:

“He did not come out outright and condemn it. Actually, they had to convince him to send in the National Guard. He was very resistant to that at the beginning. And I’m told by one person that he was borderline enthusiastic over watching people wearing his sweatshirts, waving his flags going up to Capitol Hill and derailing the certification process, which is what the president wanted his Republican lawmaker allies do to.

“He was fine with what was happening earlier today on Capitol Hill, according to multiple people who have spoken with the president today who have described him as manic and other things, just talking about this reaction that they just do not believe that is normal,” she added.

New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman piggybacks on Collins with her own reporting, on Twitter: “Many aides believed Trump was pleased by what he was seeing on TV at the Capitol, as he repeatedly refused requests to get him to say something clearly rejecting the violence.”

There is no way he’s getting the nomination in 2024 after this. A lot of Republicans won’t want to be seen with him in 2022.

I'm pretty sure Trump was hoping congress was gonna be exterminated. This dude would have been laughing watching the capitol building burn down and he needs to be removed now.

This failed simply because Trump and the fans who rushed the capitol aren't very smart. Their tactics for the attempted coup were limited to "run as fast as you can into the capitol building and break shit," and there was no plan after that.

GHK denounced Trump and said he’s an ex-Trump supporter

2021 just got better

Now only if GMS jumps off the Trump Train before it crashes, I certainly hope so. I think it’s pointless to keep holding this over ex-Trump supporters after they have denounced him, it’s good to reconciliate and heal rather than fuel the divide

That seems plausible. Had it been organized it could have easily turned into a hostage situation or a mass murder.

Trump genuinely believes the conspiracy theories he himself made up. I had my doubts about that at first, but his speeches, the leaked phonecall etc. make it clear he truly believes all the nonsensical claims and is not just acting.

It is like claiming you are superman to impress girls; but repeating that so often that at some point your TRULY believe you can jump off a skyscraper without any ill effect. Friends *should* stop you before you do that. With Trump, they are egging him on to try.

Those people deserve blame.
