America's mayor, everybody. If ever there was a major politician whose legacy is going to be more tarnished. Imagine going from a universally beloved national hero in the aftermath of the largest attack on civilians in the country's history to attempting to overthrow the democratically elected government at the behest of a billionaire real-estate con-man.

But many forms of authority are invisible to you. You can recognize authority when it comes in the form of ruling party but not when it comes in the form of a ruling class. People who love capitalism are people who love authority, no one has more authority than a billionaire who can literally buy and sell politicians like chattel.

That’s not authority. We don’t see billionaires executing anyone who refuses to bow down before them. We don’t see them shooting random people for fun. Mark Zuckerberg is not out to get you if you say that you hate him. That’s what actual authority all over the world does though. Dictators from right-wing Latin American ones to Kim dynasty enjoyed torture.

That's only true in countries in which said billionaires are actually the most powerful people within the country or at least powerful enough to make the state incredibly hesitant of going after them. That is the case in certain countries, like the US or Mexico or Germany. It's not the case in every country though.

We need a Nuremberg-like commission to try Trump and other Republican conspirators on charges of sedition. Anyone who supported this coup attempt or supports any other attempt to challenge the election should be barred from ever holding office again.

I disagree. It is about personality. Those who like commerce and intellectualism are unlikely to be into killing people simply for disagreeing. It is the opposite mindset that leads to these things.
