Given all of the hectic activity today in our capitol (and in some other states), I just wanted to check-in today to make sure ya'll take care of yourselves. All of these things have stressed a lot of us out (I have not been on here much today, but Kowani has been sending me a pretty steady stream of news out of Twitter), and we need to remember that when we can, take a break from the news. Go for a walk, get some hot coco, if you live in a place where blizzards are not imminent then go outside and enjoy the evening. There's only so much we can do. The Senators, Pence, and Pelosi all seem to be safe, as is Biden. Hopefully, this remains the case. For those of us who are praying people, please pray for peace in our country and in our world.
For Catholics, this year is dedicated to St. Joseph. St. Joseph was not known for his words, but he was known for two things-protecting his family and raising his Son. In this time when everything seems to be out-of-control, remember to hug those around you and to keep them safe. Make sure everyone around you is fed, hydrated, and sleeping well. And if you see people on Twitter/Reddit/Facebook/your selective poison talking about violence or aggression, I'll repeat what I said around the election-please try to talk them down, be a peacemaker. Or report them if you can't. But most of all, pray for peace.
Furthermore, even if those who have died today were rioters who should not have gone where they did, pray for their souls. Souls inflicted by wrath especially need prayers, that they may see God as He is meant to be seen. One of them was barely a teenager, with a family that now mourns her loss, and even if what she did was wrong, that is a life that shall never come back.
Ya'll stay safe, and please-if you are depressed, anxious, angry, or scared, reach-out to someone. A family-member, a friend, one of us, or a professional, someone. Nobody is meant to deal with this kind of stress alone.
