This whole event has added fuel to my argument that the US is not a first world country. Even calling us a third world country would be an insult to actually third world countries.

But the literal definition of "first world country" includes the US and its allies.

First world and third world hasn't been used for that propose in decades aside as pedantic way to not describe some countries as what they are. The US isn't that bad yet but it is a complete mess.

This has gotten so far out of hand. I think a lot of it might be caused by pent-up frustrations from everything that's been happening, and now it's all boiled over.

While it's true that first/second/third world were originally used for such a definition, popular usage has changed and so have their meanings.

I think this "pent up frustrations" will only continue to grow so long as Americans suffer from the inaction of two parties that are beholden to their corporate interests. Reform is but an empty promise. The current economic and societal structure cannot be sustained.

1. Actually, me and Grav has just checked, Norway is one of the only NATO members to meet it's required spending.
