Literally just doing a quick Google search shows that you're wrong, and that the Church currently takes a neutral stance on the matter.

But this is not about how to improve Muslim-Christian relations, so I'm dropping the topic here before it goes any further.

That's a deceptive statement, considering circumcision is a universal thing here because of a weird medical tradition that's a holdover from the 19th century.

The hospitals circumcise children, and most people don't know any better than to refuse it.

And it was declared a bad thing back in 1442.

Therefore it strictly orders all who glory in the name of Christian, not to practise circumcision either before or after baptism, since whether or not they place their hope in it, it cannot possibly be observed without loss of eternal salvation.

Pretty clear.

I would agree that unnecessary circumcision is a bad thing, both medically and for religious reasons when it comes to Christians.

But considering it's not being done for religious reasons, and rather because of a cultural issue in our hospitals, I doubt it's a sin. It shouldn't be done, but it's not a sin.
