You can observe a great deal about human nature in the classroom.

Take the school erasers for example. Those things are perfect; they come clean and new in these plastic boxes, perfectly equipped with paper sleeves.

When I look at the said things... the wonderful clean and pure white rectangular prisms with their pleasant bouncy textures, those carefully crafted blue-green paper sleeves... I think “Wow this is perfection. A real testament to humanity’s ability to Craft... to assert control over our surroundings and to overcome our errors.” To a more primitive society, the eraser would be a magical tool.

Yet when the children get a hold of these... the basic instinct of more than half of them... is to strip the erasers (from the paper sleeves) and then mutilate and tear the things. It just feels wrongful, so wrongful... I feel like I’m watching something sacred being destroyed.
