Mystery Monoliths appearing across the World

For those who aren't aware monoliths of unknown origin have been appearing across the world and people are trying to figure where they came from.

We now have mystery monolith number six . The first was Utah, then Romania , pine mountain, California, Chia ( Columbia) Oudehorne(Netherlands), and now the Isle of Wight. All the monoliths seem to be relatively similar and have been compared to the monoliths in 2001 a space odyssey.

I’m at a loss to explain what’s going on here. Is a publicity stunt, a art exhibition, aliens? It’s a mystery. I wonder where the next one will appear.

The fact that they're all in the western world proves they're a viral marketing stunt/some sort of weird performance art thing and not aliens. If it was aliens you'd think their distribution would be more random.

I personally believe that it's a mix of the first two options, maybe it started as an art thing, then a corporation saw an opportunity and made their own, being mainly on western countries also aids this idea, I doubt it is aliens if it were aliens I doubt we wouldn't have detected them, even if the government hides them someone is bound to find out anyways, probably human action.

Seriously though, probably started as a random prank or abstract art thing and inspired copycats. Like that clown thing a few years back.

I honestly wish whoever was responsible for these own up to their marketing stunt. I don't fucking care if it's Elon Musk advertising his new thing, just make these stop. It got old after the first three times.

Two theories:

1. The first one was found, we don't know who put it there. Now people are just copy-catting.

2. This is some kind of marketing/advertising campaign by some company.

I'm leaning towards the second one.
