To me, Christmas is the day after I have a big meal, watch movies, and share presents with my family. We do all that stuff on Christmas Eve because we all typically have other things to do on the actual day.

It also means it's time to watch these videos again.

Four weeks when I can’t complain about Christmas music.

Swedish meatballs.

People pretending there were a significant number of people ‘offended’ at merry Christmas when it was those people flipping out over Happy Holidays like it was a slap in the face so that people who want to appear ‘reasonable’ call out ‘both sides’ of a one sided fight.

Lots of tiny lights.

The backbone of a consumerist society.

People being groovy to each other.

Teenagers discovering its roots as if its never been known before. Pretty sure these are the same kids that yelled Santa was fake at malls.

I get to start wearing coats again.

Other stuff I guess.

Christmas means nothing more to me than a fun little winter holiday. Like Fourth of July or New Years or Halloween. Christmas is secular to me and definitely not religious

Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

The triumph of the Democracy is essential to the struggle of popular liberty

Family coming together and having a good time, good food and good presents.
And where I come from there’s this word ‘hygge’ that perfectly describes Christmas.

Christmas is the day when I get books. It also has the best music, and I can usually celebrate with my church. So I love Christmas.

It isn’t religious for me neither, but it’s much more important than just a little winter holiday.

It means Jesus.

Right now it's advent season, the season where we await the birth of Jesus. Because we're preparing for his birth each year there's traditions: the advent wreath, the Christ candle, a few others.

Christmas has become commercialized for good and bad so it's always important to remember who it is for. Our savior is coming again this year. We're safe again in his arms.

Really just family. My family was never big on a ton of presents or a bunch of holiday events, we usually would spend Christmas hiking or just chilling somewhere. And that's always a relaxing time.

Christmas means religious holidays enforced by a supposedly secular government.

I appreciate the two days off, but can't I have them in summer?

I don't observe Christmas. I am not a christian.

I do rather observe an eclectic holiday of Saturnalia, Yule, and Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, as a neopagan witch. I use it to share in bounty and abundance with my loved ones, keep the hope of warmth and the light of the Sun throughout winter, and harness the magic from the Winter Solstice. Overall, I call it candlenights because candles represent the eternal flame from the stars and the Sun that enlightens the earth.

Christmas is all about spending time with family, giving stuff, and rabid commercialism. It's also the day that Christians believe Santa was born and children believe Jesus delivers presents to them.

A momentary rest from life, one of the two times I visit church during the year (probably not this year though), clam chowder with one side of the family and ham with the other, [Obligatory reference to capitalist corruption of a pagan holiday that had earlier been co-opted by the currently dominant religion], people giving me their best guesses as to what I wanted but had trouble with because I never have any specific desires as to what I want them to waste money feeding capitalism or whatever other way people like to say that gift to me, etc.

I'll probably like the holiday slightly less when I actually have to work more on making it happen.

Yeah I've noticed, I won't speak for everyone (or anyone here for that matter) but I usually put it down to age.

When I was younger I used to be the fervorously anti-religion, anti-theist, atheist type until I realised there's more important things to concern myself with. This is especially evident when they're mocking Christians over things like Christmas.

Bouncing off the above posts, Christmas, being a Christian, is one of the most internally joyful times of the year for me. I'm a generally reserved person irl, and it's not like I'm gonna do your typically-seen-as-negative Christian things. It's just a really nice and happy time of year for me. And if its not for you, I feel bad for what may be going on in your life or what has already happened for it to be that way.
