I’m serious when I say that China should not exist. Yes that goes back to the first China, the Kingdom of Qin which was already a bloodthirsty regime. The word “Han Chinese” should not be understood as an ethnic group. The very fact that it has to engage in diplomacy and foreign trade is shameful since a utopian, perfect China is self-sufficient and has no need to deal with barbarians. A speculation drawn from historical examples. When an empire collapses, another one rises. The Macedonian empire replaced the Persian empire, then Rome replaced Macedonia, then Charlemagne and the Byzantines replaced the old Rome, and so on. New empires expand and consolidate upon their predecessors' ashes.

So yeah, once the US withers away, China will expand its empire to outside of Asia.

Rome didn't replace Macedonia, the Diadochi did, and then they destroyed themselves plenty well enough without Roman help.

The fact that China will be the next superpower if the US fades doesn't mean it'll be the same kind of superpower. I see no reason to suspect it's military reach would go beyond it's immediate region. Economically it's a different story, but as we're a lot more globalised now that's to be expected.
